General Director Kangaroo: Daring to start up is not enough, it is necessary to start up in a smart way

Intelligent and planned start-up is what Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phuong, General Director of Vietnam Australia Refrigeration Electrical and Electronics Group (Kangaroo) shared with start ups in Vietnam Business Day.

Business environment is changing very much, favorable for production – business activities. What do you think about these moves?

Vietnam’s business environment, though improving in recent years, is still at a low level compared to the rest of the world.

Although business environment assessment indicators have changed, they can only be considered as early warning signs.

What the business is concerned about is the practical implementation and effectiveness of the indicators.

We evaluate the new government improvements in un-bonding enterprises as very positive, going straight to the issues that businesses are facing, but reducing latency from policy to implementing and implementation with synchronization is also an issue that the government needs to address.

For businesses, speed is a decisive factor in business, so the government also needs to change in the way it does not lose the opportunities for economic development, eliminate negative factors, avoid group benefits. This is what I consider to be very difficult.

So, what do you think about the target of 1 million businesses in 2020 that the Resolution 35/2016/NQ-CP on business development support to 2020 set. The start ups has a great opportunity, don’t they?

We are talking a lot about the country of start-up, 1 million businesses by 2020. That’s the breadth of targets, which is not hard when the government is pushing for start-ups, removal of barriers, conditions for business start-up, support start-up activities.

However, how does the number of one million enterprises can survive and contribute positively to the state budget is the thing worth to discuss

Thailand is a lesson, 24,690 new products are launched within a year but only 10% of them “survived”.

From their lesson, we can draw the experience for ourselves avoid getting into the car dump. Should not just be “dare” start a business that must be “start-up” in smart and planned way.

How do you see the role and responsibility of entrepreneurs in economic development?

Economy is the boat that moves the country forward, the businessman is one of those who navigate the boat.

There is no war today, but perhaps the economic war, the war of wisdom has become more harsh than ever.

In addition to contributing to the state budget, entrepreneurs create jobs for thousands of workers, contributing to social stability, providing the market with new products, modern experiences, and flags of national colors to the international arena.

On the day of Vietnamese businessmen, what do you want to say to entrepreneurs, start-ups?

Innovation, creativity in all activities is a prerequisite for entrepreneurs to develop and fulfill their responsibilities to the country.
